AboutGreen Guru LLC

Green Guru LLC delivers service-first irrigation and landscape lighting in Rochester, MI and nearby Oakland County communities. We diagnose the root cause, restore reliability, and document the system so future service is faster, cleaner, and predictable.

Defined work, no surprises: when access is buried or site constraints drive labor, we confirm details during an inspection and quote the cleanest fix path.

Our disciplines

  • Diagnose first: confirm symptoms, isolate root cause, then fix the highest-impact driver.
  • Access discipline: valve boxes, controllers, and lighting hubs stay findable, labeled, and serviceable.
  • Water discipline: measure pressure under flow and verify coverage; add a PRV path and/or flow protection when it prevents repeat failures.
  • Connectivity: Smart Link (lighting) and SRMS tiers (irrigation) keep control and monitoring serviceable when it’s a good fit.
  • Response: Service Plans turn monitoring into scheduled follow-through and priority scheduling in peak season.

Lawn Irrigation

Q: My sprinklers aren't working correctly. Can you fix my sprinklers?

A: Yes. We troubleshoot no-start zones, low flow, leaks, broken heads, wiring issues, and valve symptoms. If the system has already been activated and is safe to run, a Tune-Up & Repair Visit is the fastest (reduced-rate) way to get repairs moving and restore predictable performance.

Q: I have a broken sprinkler head. Can you repair a broken sprinkler head?

A: Yes. We replace the head and confirm the underlying cause (mower damage, pressure, poor fitment, or a cracked riser) so it doesn’t become a repeat failure.

Q: There's a wet spot in my yard, I think I need to fix a sprinkler leak. Can you help?

A: A wet spot is often a line, fitting, or valve leak. We locate the failure, repair it, and verify coverage so you stop wasting water and avoid landscape damage.

Q: How often should I water my lawn?

A: It depends on soil, exposure, slope, and nozzle selection — but as a rule, deeper and less frequent watering builds stronger roots. We can tune runtimes and start times so coverage improves without runoff.

Q: Do I need to do anything to my sprinkler system for the winter?

A: Yes — winterization (blow-out) clears water from lines and valves so freeze damage doesn’t become spring surprises. In our area, Sept–Nov is the typical window.

Q: What is the ideal water pressure for my home? When is it considered too high?

A: Most homes run best around 50–70 PSI. Pressure that’s consistently 80+ PSI is considered high and can accelerate leaks and failures (including irrigation parts and exterior hose connections).

Common signs of excessive pressure:

  • Frequent leaks or dripping fixtures
  • Noisy water hammer / banging pipes
  • Misting/fogging at sprinkler heads
  • Unusual spikes in water usage

If pressure is the root cause, we can verify it and recommend a PRV-based fix path.

Q: How do I know if my sprinkler system is using too much water?

A: If you see soggy zones, runoff, or a higher-than-normal bill, it’s often a leak, a stuck valve, or overspray/coverage inefficiency. We can audit the system, tune it, and recommend upgrades (like pressure regulation or smart control) when they’re the right next step.

Landscape Lighting

Q: Some of my landscape lights aren't working. Can you fix landscape lighting?

A: Yes. We troubleshoot fixtures, transformers, taps, and wiring/splice failures, then restore reliable operation before recommending upgrades.

Q: My landscape lights are flickering. How can you fix flickering landscape lights?

A: Flicker is usually a loose/corroded splice, a failing lamp, or voltage drop. We find the weak link, repair it, and rebalance runs for consistent output.

Q: I want to add more lights to my existing landscape lighting system. Can you do that?

A: Absolutely. We can expand a system, upgrade to LED, and keep it serviceable by fixing wire gauge, waterproof splices, and transformer sizing as we go.

Q: What kind of maintenance does landscape lighting require?

A: The big one is splice discipline — waterproof connections prevent corrosion failures. We also clean lenses, re-aim fixtures, and keep vegetation from swallowing the beam.

Q: Is LED landscape lighting worth the investment?

A: Yes. LEDs reduce power draw, run cooler, and last longer. The best value comes from pairing quality fixtures with correct voltage and serviceable wiring/splices.

SRMS™ (Smart Resource Management System)

Q: What does SRMS stand for?

A: SRMS stands for Smart Resource Management System. It’s our tiered irrigation retrofit that adds connectivity + smart control first, then protection and response as needs evolve.

See the full SRMS overview →

Q: Do I need customer Wi‑Fi for SRMS?

A: Not always. Tier 1 is designed to add dedicated connectivity so control and monitoring remain serviceable even when customer Wi‑Fi isn’t available or reliable.

Q: What systems are a fit for SRMS?

A: SRMS is a strong fit for typical 1" and 2" irrigation systems where you want better visibility, control, and follow-through. HOA common areas and commercial sites are common use cases.

Q: Does Tier 2 stop leaks automatically?

A: Tier 2 adds flow monitoring and automated safeguards. The goal is less damage and less waste, but configuration and validation are part of the install.

Q: What about excessive pressure (85+ PSI)?

A: High pressure can create repeat failures. We verify pressure and recommend regulation first, so smart control is built on a stable foundation.
